About

Dr. Göktuğ Esmer, MD

Dr. Mehmet Göktuğ Esmer is a board-certified specialist in aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery, known to his patients as "Doctor G". His practice spans rhinoplasty, breast surgery, liposuction, tummy tuck, mommy makeover, eyelid surgery and facial rejuvenation.

He completed his specialty training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine, Göztepe Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital. He is a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TPRECD). Since 2022 he has treated patients from Türkiye, Europe, the UK and the Middle East in Istanbul; in the international patient programme he founded, surgery, accommodation, transfers and recovery are managed by a single team.

Three principles sit at the centre of his surgical approach: natural results that respect facial and body proportions and never look "done"; planning that puts patient safety first at every step; and close post-operative follow-up. Every patient has a single goal: the best version of yourself.

From specialty thesis to international journal

JPRAS Open · 2026PubMedOpen Access

Dr. Göktuğ Esmer's specialty thesis investigates the effect of low-frequency electromagnetic field therapy on the circulation and survival of skin flaps. His work on this subject was published in 2026 in the plastic surgery journal JPRAS Open, with Dr. Esmer as first author, and is indexed in PubMed.

A flap is tissue that is lifted and repositioned during surgery; in operations such as tummy tuck, breast reduction and facelift, healing depends on that tissue keeping a good blood supply. In the experimental model, low-dose exposure (0.2 mT, 50 Hz) improved flap survival, vascularisation and tissue repair, while high-dose exposure brought no benefit.

This is experimental (animal model) research; the authors stress that further studies are needed before any clinical use. It is not a routine treatment in surgery.
